Remember

Fire up your grills, set the tables, and put on your best party mix. Summer is officially here. Celebrate hard but also remember why you’re celebrating.

Mickey was a good kid sure he got in trouble every now and then but he had a heart of gold. No body felt left out around him thats for sure. I met Mickey through a couple of chane connections my neighbors went to school with his brothers and my sister had dated his neighbor. I remember we were at a cook out and he walks in to the adult circle grabbed a bong hit it as hard as he could and ran away. We all laughed so hard none of us had the balls to pull such a stunt but Mickey didn’t care he wanted us to laugh he didnt care what happened to him. Mickey was definitely a one of kind truly selfless kid.

Daniel now he was a little different. He was the quiet little brother in the house down the street and the youngest of the group that I ran with. One of my best friends going from middle school into high school. I remember about a week before he graduated he told me he was getting out of our small town as he had a kid on the way and he was in love with the girl of his dreams.

Mickey’s Humvee was hit but an I.E.D. unfortunately he and a couple others didn’t make it out of the gunfight that fallowed. Daniel took a 50 cal. to th stomach during a training exercise and died from the injuries.

These are just a two of the hand full of kids I grew up with that went to fight and aren’t coming home. Celebrate all you can but remember to celebrate them.
